Course Overview
This course will focus on defining, identifying, and supporting changes in one of the primary foundations of our intervention, arousal level. Obtaining and sustaining an appropriate arousal level is not only key to making progress in therapy, but it is also instrumental in appropriately performing day to day activities at home, in school, at work, or in the community, as well as forming meaningful relationships with others.
In this course, you will learn how to do the following:
- Define “arousal level”.
- Briefly describe the autonomic nervous system.
- Identify the two branches of the autonomic nervous system.
- Identify the three arousal level states.
- Identify behaviors associated with each state of arousal.
- Explain the importance of an individual being in an optimal state of arousal.
- Describe the different environments that support arousal level.
- Describe multiple ways to move from one arousal level to another.
